After graduating from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Johnson worked at the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. He then clerked for the Honorable Karen D. Russell, while she was a presiding judge in Morris County.

When his clerkship was finished in the Summer of 1993, he immediately began working for a small but prestigious law firm in Morristown, concentrating on criminal defense and personal injury matters. He was directly involved in many high profile and complex cases. Mr. Johnson was responsible for handling many criminal cases involving allegations of kidnaping, assault, sexual offenses, drug offenses and municipal court matters.
