New Jersey man faces sexual assault charge

A charge of any crime that is sexual in nature can lead to serious consequences. Any child welfare authority in New Jersey who is told of a potential assault on a child has the legal obligation to pursue the matter further. When an alleged victim recently told the details of a supposed incident to a caseworker in New Jersey, an investigation led to a man being charged with sexual assault.

The man in question is 19 years old, and the alleged victim is a 13-year-old girl. The girl is said to have told a caseworker with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency about some type of sexual activity between herself and the 19-year-old. The man is charged with sexual assault along with endangering the welfare of a child.

He is currently being held at a county jail facility. He is held there in lieu of a $151,000 bail. He was also ordered to not have any contact with the girl, who was described as an acquaintance. There has been an arraignment hearing set for the man.

In cases where there is an alleged sexual assault, the criminal consequences can include jail time. In New Jersey, sexual assault convictions can lead to having to register as a sexual offender, particularly when minors are involved. While this particular man has only been charged and is presumed innocent of any wrongdoing, anyone facing charges of sexual assault may want to determine their best options for a defense that may help them garner the best possible outcome for their individual case.
