3 people charged for alleged drug possession and prostitution

On Oct. 7, New Jersey police detained three people in Lawrence for various criminal charges after a man allegedly told police that he had paid a woman for sex. Around 9 p.m., two police officers pulled over a 36-year-old man leaving the Sleep-E-Hollow Motel in Lawrence. During the traffic stop, the man allegedly told the officers that he had paid a woman $100 for a sexual act at the motel after contacting her through Craigslist. The report identifies the woman as a 29-year-old from Lawrence.

The report says that when the officers visited the motel, they found the 29-year-old woman in a room with her 25-year-old brother and 28 packages of heroin. The police report also says that they found drug paraphernalia in their possession. Although police were initially investigating the woman for prostitution, they also took her brother into custody for drug charges.

Police charged the woman and her brother with possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of drug paraphernalia. They also charged the woman with engaging in prostitution. The 36-year-old man received a charge of soliciting prostitution. The police released both men n court summonses after charging them, but they held the woman at the Mercer County Correction Center.

A person facing drug or prostitution charges may decide to contact a criminal defense attorney to plan a defense strategy. A lawyer can advise the defendant when to speak to law enforcement about any aspect of the case. In some cases, the prosecution may be lacking in evidence of the alleged wrongdoing, and they may be relying on the defendant incriminating his or herself.
