A couple has been arrested for selling drugs online, and federal drug charges are supposedly pending. It is suspected that the two, a woman from New Jersey and a man from New York City, are facing drug distribution and drug manufacturing charges, and they may have sold synthetic drugs via the Internet. It is reported that one person may have died as a result of this in Wisconsin.
The Drug Enforcement Administration detained the 34-year old man and 29-year old women. The alleged charges are conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute. Another charge of analogues, a synthetic opioid, has been added as well. It is reported that this version, U-47700 opioid, may be more potent than morphine.
Allegedly, a 37-year old man may have succumbed as a result of ingesting these drugs. It is said that he was found unresponsive in his apartment in May 2016. Authorities confirmed that parcels found following a search of the man’s home were traced back to the male suspect’s mailbox in New Jersey.
Supposedly, the male suspect may have been ordering raw chemicals from China. He, along with other co-conspirators, refined and repacked the drugs and forwarded them on to the alleged victim. At the post office, investigators intercepted several suspected packages containing drugs.
In this country, there is a war with the opioid epidemic. When a person is addicted to drugs, he or she is completely powerless. If someone is facing drug distribution in the state of New Jersey, it may be in his or her best interest to consult with a criminal law attorney who will assist the client in preparing for the best defense possible.
